Sustainable

Local

Delicious

At Preserved we are all about sustainable, Local and delicious.

We’ve paired up with local farmers to bring you the best of our harvest any time of year. Using perfected techniques, we prepare high quality foods and preserve them by canning.

Making them shelf stable so you have access to Albertas best produce year round.

Why preservation? Unfortunately, our local harvest season in Alberta only lasts a small period of time. Preserving food is a sustainable method to make sure that we, as a community, utilize our best products right at the peak of their freshness, nutritional content and availability.

Preserved wants nothing more than for you to have the best quality food all the time. In your own home and pantry to turn into amazing meals for you and your family. We are making it easy for you to turn your staple foods into delicious, nutritious breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks in a flash.

At Preserved we are all about teaming up with local farmers & suppliers to bring you the best Alberta has to offer.

Canning

Canning has been around a long time and for good reason. It utilizes our produce at it’s peak nutritional value while remaining delicious and sustainable.

Raspberry Vanilla Jam

RaspBerries grown in picture Butte, Alberta

Prairie Hill Fruits is where the raspberries in this jam are from. Rex Vandenberg the man behind the name Prairie Hill Fruits, is a family run farm based in Picture Butte Alberta, where he grows a variety of fruit. He’s got his hands in all sort of agriculture business in his community.

In full discretion- the man reminds me a lot of my father. A lot. From stature to pragmatic demeanour. Their wives even have the same first name.

Our Raspberry Vanilla jam has a touch of vanilla to add a little extra elegance. You’ll want to slather this jam on your scones, or in a jam tart. Add a layer to your Victoria sponge cake. Or it makes a great parfait with yogurt and granola

Saskatoon Gin Jam

Saskatoon Berries from Millet, Alberta

Gin from Turner valley, Alberta

Eileen Roth is the hard working mastermind behind Purple Gem Farms. Purple Gem Farms is the only CANADAGAP certified Saskatoon berry grower in Alberta. Starting production in 2016 they now expect to grow over 56,000 pounds of these little gems every year.

The gin in this jam is Eau Claire Distillery’s Parlour Gin. Eau Claire was born with an immediate pedigree – a true farm-to-glass, certified farm distillery, where grain was produced using 100 year old horse farming methods – a first in North America, thanks to David Farran, of Turner Valley, Alberta. Handing the gain over to his head distiller, Caitlin Quinn, they make award winning gins, vodkas and whiskeys

Adding a touch of Gin to this Jam makes the berries sparkle. The natural almond aromas of the berries really come through. This jam is just as good in savoury application as it is in sweet ones. Pair it with bison, cheese & charcuterie. Mix it with balsamic vinegar to glaze root veggies. Slather it on french toast, or mix it with eau claire gin and soda for a quick cocktail.

Haskap Jam

Haskap Berries from Alcomdale , Alberta

Andrew Rosychuk is the city slicker turned farmer behind the haskap berries we use in this amazing jam. The jammiest jam! In 2005, while taking the Production Horticulture Diploma program at Olds College he started growing haskaps, on the family farm, making him Alberta’s first grower. He is a wealth of knowledge, he has connections all over the Alberta fruit scene and it happy to make introductions.

Honestly, this guy has helped make connections for Preserved that aided in our growth as a business so many times. Consider yourself lucky if you’ve got Andrew in your corner.

Haskaps taste like a mix between blueberries, plums and raspberries. we add local honey to our haskap jam to brighten those amazing floral notes- making this the jammiest jam. Its good on toast, Fantastic on waffles with sour cream and even better in thumbprint cookies. it also plays well in savoury applications. Try it as a glaze for roast pork, with creamy cheeses, pates and charcuterie or baked chicken thighs with ricotta

Sweet Garlic & Chili Ketchup

Gull lake, Alberta

Our friends at Gull Valley Growers source and supply supply the amazing tomatoes & chilies in our ketchup, the apex of all condiments. Scott, of Gull Valley Growers, recently branched out under this business name to be a little more inclusive to all the greenhouses he works with. Scott owns and operates 2 stalls at the Calgary farmers market-but will only sell veggies grown by people he knows personally. For us at Preserved Scott is our connection to Gull Valley Greenhouses, located just south of Gull Lake, Alberta. Gull Valley is a family owned and operated green house growing 12 varieties of vine ripened tomatoes.

WE make our ketchup with fresh, vine ripened tomatoes and add in sweet roasted garlic and roasted chilies. it has a depth of flavour like no ketchup you’ve ever had. Eat it with eggs in the morning, with tater tots, bratwursts or hamburgers, or use it as a chutney with samosas or curries. You’ll never go back to you old ketchup.

Strawberry Brown Sugar Jam

Acme, Alberta

Our friends at Sunterra Greenhouses recently branched out and opened up a bunch of greenhouse growing tomatoes and strawberries. But we are here to talk about thier strawberries. The Dutchess. They are sweet, they are perfectly ripe and they are shipped to me fresh! This is a BIG DEAL in Alberta. Fresh, ripe picked strawberries year round. I called them as soon as I heard, as may people had been asking for a strawberry jam.

WE make our strawberry brown sugar jam with-brown sugar. Like all of our products we wanted our strawberry jam to be the best you’ve had, so we elevated the flavour with brown sugar. you’ll love it on toast, in tart shells or angel food cake

Cam’s carrots, marketed by Poplar Bluff Organics. Boy, do we love this team. They grow the highest quality, sweetest root veggies around!
